New Medievia Server
We have made the move to our new server. Today will be a grand test. We guarantee nothing. Ideally everything will save and go forward and everything will be fine. If something goes wrong we will convert back to our data from Friday at 1pm on old server. Please try to test everything!
The new server is truly amazing. It dumps 700mb core files in 1.5 seconds! It boots our world in 5 seconds. It compiled the code in 7 minutes and takes just 3 seconds to link it together. This server should contain and run the world we love until 2010 or so. Lets hope it turns out to be as stable as our last few servers!
For you geeks who want to know what you all just helped buy: it is a dual processor 3.8ghz Dell 8250, with 8 gigs of ram, and 5x 15,000 rpm drives in an embedded dual channel raid 5 array. It is a 64 bit machine running 64 bit SUSE enterprise operating system. If you want to support the game please donate as it was expensive!
Many many Many thanks goes to Ozy as he gets 99.5% of the kudos for the conversion to 64 bits and a new compiler. I pretty much sat on my hands as it was a one person type of project. Ozy is one of the best technical programmers I have ever met. H5 Ozymandias! H5 Medievia as it is now a true 64 bit application.
The future is ours.
